Kin-Ball

Kin-Ball originated in 1986 in Quebec, Canada, and is a unique team sport involving three teams (four players per team) competing simultaneously. The game utilizes a 48” (1.22 meter) diameter inflatable ball known as a “Kin-Ball”, which usually weighs about 1 kg (2.2 lbs). The Official Kin-Ball team colors are Black, Grey, and Blue (sometimes Pink). One "attacking team" calls out the color of one of the opposing teams before serving (hitting) the Kin-Ball. The objective for the attacking team is to serve the ball in such a way that the team whose color is announced finds it difficult to catch the ball before it touches the ground. If they do catch it, they become the next attacking team. A team earns a point if they have served it to another team and that team fails to catch it before it hits the ground. Whenever a team commits a foul (such as not being able to catch the ball before it touches the ground) the other two teams receive one point each. The playing surface is generally indoors on a square court measuring 20m x 20m (66' x 66'). The sport emphasizes cooperation, strategy, and quick decision-making and is governed by the International Kin-Ball Federation.
